Service Description

Join us at (g)row for a fun and engaging STEM Explorers Class designed especially for curious minds aged 4-8. In these interactive sessions, kids will be guided through various exciting experiments and hands-on activities that introduce basic concepts from the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. From building 3-D forms to exploring wild chemical reactions, each activity is crafted to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning. Sign up for classes individually online or in store for $15 each or email us at to register for all 7 classes for only $75 ($30 savings)! July 16th Sink or Float: use bins filled with water to explore different objects and talk about why they sink/float. Focus word: DENSITY July 23rd Soap and Pepper: experiment with shallow bowl of water with pepper sprinkled over the top. Kids dip a finger in dish soap and then touch the water and see how the pepper moves away to demonstrate the importance of hand washing. Focus word: BACTERIA July 30th Dancing Raisins: pour water and vinegar into a clear container and drop raisins in. The reaction between the liquids will make the raisins float up and down. Focus word: CARBON DIOXIDE August 6th Toothpicks and Marshmallows: use toothpicks and mini marshmallows to create a sculpture, tower, or bridge. Draw a picture first as a “blueprint” and then create the masterpiece. Focus word: 3-DIMENSIONAL August 13th Shadows: make shadow frames using cardboard, or use blocks or toys. Talk about why some objects make shadows and why others don’t. Go outside and use chalk to trace shadows on sidewalk. Focus word: OPAQUE August 20th Cotton ball launchers: use toilet paper tubes, popsicle sticks, duct tape, and rubber bands to create a launcher to toss cotton balls across the room. Experiment with launching them farther and shorter distances. Focus word: KINETIC ENERGY August 27th Oobleck: mix cornstarch and water to create a slime-like mixture that feels solid when you poke it but liquid when you slowly sink your hands in it. Talk about the states of matter (solid, liquid, gas). Focus word: MATTER
